The women of WWII broke down many gender barriers between men and women by participating in what was usually reserved for men and filling positions normally occupied by men. These women proved that they could do just what men could do and showed that in war as dire as the second World War, people of all genders should be allowed to pitch in. These courageous women showed that women were not inferior to men. The opportunity women had and fulfilled opened many doors for women who would fill jobs normally belonging to men, such as jobs in politics and business. Women who participated in combat proved that women were not frail, weak creatures that should be coddled and pampered. They showed that they were just as brave and tough as the men who fought alongside them. Women who filled non-combat roles, such as auxiliary or radio operating, displayed the leadership skills and pure skill that women and men alike contain. By working as intelligence agents, women showed that had all the intellect and cunning of any man who worked with or before them. At home, women who filled the jobs left behind by their husbands proved that they could handle all, if not more, of the work that usual was thought of as too advanced for simple-minded women. Overall, women proved all sexist belief against women wrong and further established the budding women's rights movement around the world.
